How to get a webIRB account

PLEASE NOTE:  Due to webIRB programming changes, all UCLA faculty and staff hired after February 2nd, 2013 must request a webIRB account in order to access webIRB.

1. Please confirm with your HR department that you are listed in the employee database.
2. Obtain UCLA Logon ID and password if you do not already have one:  http://logon.ucla.edu/activate.php.
3. Email the following information to webIRBHelp@research.ucla.edu:
   • Your UCLA Logon ID - (Verify your UCLA Logon ID here:  https://logon-asm1.logon.ucla.edu/userlookup.php)
     • Note to Mednet users::  Your UCLA Logon ID may differ from your Mednet ID.
   • Your UCLA UID# (9 digit #)
   • Your full name:
     • First
     • Middle
     • Last
   • Your email address
   • Your UCLA department and division

UCLA Policy 900:  PI Eligibility (http://www.adminpolicies.ucla.edu/pdf/900.pdf)

UCLA faculty members must request webIRB accounts for UCLA students and other researchers who do not meet UCLA Policy 900 PI Eligibility requirements.

This includes graduate students, residents, post-doctoral fellows, UCLA staff, UCLA-affiliated volunteers, Visiting Scholars etc.  Investigators must know his/her UCLA Logon ID and password to access webIRB.

1. Email your faculty sponsor/advisor the following information:
   • Your UCLA Logon ID - (Verify your UCLA Logon ID here:  https://logon-asm1.logon.ucla.edu/userlookup.php)
     • Note to Mednet users: Your UCLA Logon ID may differ from your Mednet ID.
   • Your UCLA UID# (9 digit #)
   • Your full name
     • First
     • Middle
     • Last
   • Your email address
   • Your department and division

The faculty sponsor/advisor must email the Step 1 information to webIRBHelp@research.ucla.edu to request the account.

1. Obtain a UCLA Logon ID and password:  https://logon.ucla.edu/activate.php.
2. Once you have obtained your UCLA Logon ID and password, please email the following information to your UCLA faculty collaborator:
   • Your UCLA Logon ID  - (Verify your UCLA Logon ID here:  https://logon-asm1.logon.ucla.edu/userlookup.php)
   • Your UCLA UID# (9 digit #, optional)
   • Your full name
     • First
     • Middle
     • Last
   • Your email address
   • Brief explanation of role in UCLA research
3. Your faculty collaborator will email the information in Step 2 to webIRBHelp@research.ucla.edu to request the non-UCLA collaborator account 

• You (and your faculty sponsor/collaborator when applicable) will receive an email when your webIRB account has been created.
• Please use your UCLA Logon ID and password to access webIRB at https://webirb.research.ucla.edu/webirb/.
• If you don't have or know your UCLA Logon ID, you can look it up at https://logon.ucla.edu/activate.php.
